The aim of the proposal is to functionally and aesthetically upgrade the roof and to create a modern urban residential garden. The new layout includes an outdoor kitchen, barbeque, dining and seating areas as well as a five-person hot tub. The proposed concept aims for optimal orientation and utilizes the areas with maximum unobstructed views. Light, shadow, natural materials, and contrasts provide a modern yet calming and intimate environment with a high degree of privacy.

 

The proposed design incorporates the existing construction on the south side and further recommends setting up a two-level platform. This platform will not only accommodate the hot tub but also provide two seating areas, ideal for gatherings. The hot tub is oriented to ensure an unobstructed view of the urban landscape. The jacuzzi is positioned to provide the best possible view of the city skyline. The curved design at the edge of the two levels creates a sense of calmness and relaxation and acts as a focal point for gatherings. A groove with urban plants at the perimeter of the platform provides the necessary privacy and visual isolation. Access to this area is now possible only from the west side of the platform, through a specially designed, concealed door, with provisions for vertical planters.

The outdoor kitchen as well as the grilling and dining areas are located at the northeast side, next to the central staircase. With a view to keeping the area comfortable in any weather conditions, it was recommended to install a custom-designed pergola to offer protection from direct sunlight and rain. During the design process, the angle of the sun’s rays on critical dates was carefully considered. This was done to prevent excessive heat during the summer while ensuring that ample sunlight entered during the winter months. Furthermore, the pergola design included a trapezoidal awning at the entrance from the stairwell to provide shelter from the rain. In the north side as well as the entire east side up to the platform, it was recommended to install synthetic fencing that would protect against the wind and ensure privacy.

 

Fresh layouts, incorporating natural materials in earthy tones and varied textures, and new plantings enhance the geometric elements and foster a serene and contemporary urban landscape, perfect for relaxation.
